In early 2018 MÀKIA was engaged by our clients to develop a project vision and master plan for a future botanical garden located in the Republic of Georgia along the Black Sea Coast.  The resulting master plan is organized around the preservation of native woodlands and marshland as well as the development of several exotic habitats.  In addition, the master plan includes numerous opportunities for recreational and amusement activities within the Botanical Garden to reinforce the tourism potential for the grater region.  Major organizing elements of the project are inspired by local hydrological systems and water patterns.  Restored water habitats guides visitors along the way through the site where a main path follows the primary water course and is gradually divided into smaller canals which then divide the site into 8 different habitats areas.  A series of contemporary glass houses will contain the Botanical Garden’s desert and tropical plant collections as well as provide an important architectural destination for the region.
